Update from Coach
Clint: 2/2
- Thanks to all of you who helped
make this past weekend such a
great weekend of wrestling. Here
are some highlights:
Ten high schools battled it out
in the Cornell University Duals
before the Cornell match. Congrats
to Pal-Mac on defeating Greene
for the #1 Division 2 State Ranking
- 4,500 fans watches our Big Red
battle #2 Iowa State. The match
would not have been nearly as
exciting without all of you wrestling
fans there! Although we didn't
win the overall match, we had
some great moments, including
two outstanding victories by FLWC
Alums Troy Nickerson and Kyle
Dake.
- Sunday concluded with an FLWC
practice of epic proportions!
We had 80 wrestlers in the Friedman
Wrestling Center, and fortunately
FLWC coach Eric Toftegaard and
FLWC coaches/ NCAA Champions Jordan
Leen and Zach Roberson were there
to help.
The Youth contingent of the FLWC
continued Monday with a Jamboree
practice led by FLWC Assistant
Coach and Ithaca Pee Wee Head
Wrestling Coach Eric Toftegaard.
Another 60 youth wrestlers piled
into Friedman for two hours of
drills, wrestling and games.
The fun will continue. The Big
Red Takedown Tournament will be
on February 20th, and 12-noon. This
event is open to all wrestlers 8th
grade and under. More info, and
the pre-registration info can be
found on the attached flier. Pre-registration
is HIGHLY recommended, and will
save you time to the Tournament;
payment can be made early or at
the door.
As you all know by now, we continue
to have practices every Sunday as
we close in on the post-season,
and that includes this Sunday. The
Super Bowl doesn't begin until after
6:30. I will make sure that we get
done by 4:45 to make sure you all
get home for the festivities.
Finally, the Spring Post/Freestyle
Season is near, and we I will be
providing the spring schedule in
the coming days. Look for Sun &
Tue practices with some competitions
mixed in.
That's all for now. I hope to see
you and good luck as you move into
your postseason tournaments!
